E-commerce Merchandiser + Copywriter (Remote Opportunities Available)

Showcase Corporate
Brampton, Ontario

Web Merchandising Specialist

National retailer Showcase continues to grow its website to become the "Home of the Hottest Trends" online. Unlike many traditional retailers, Showcase strives to be first to market with every trend it identifies, from branded to private label.  The Web Merchandising Specialist is responsible for bringing these products to life online, through creative visual and written merchandising, ahead of their distribution to Showcase's 117 trend stores from coast to coast.

This is not a traditional online merchandising role, where vendors provide content and images and the merchandiser transcribes them to a website.  Showcase moves quickly to execute each new trend, and as such, assets for most new items must be developed internally.  Compelling photos must be located online or requested from our design team.  Copy must be developed internally, after researching the product online or through interaction with a sample. With each new trend, the merchandiser must understand why the trend is gaining popularity, and adjust copy and content to align with the trend. As such, the role requires hands on learning with the product, as well as strong research and creative skills, alongside the technical aptitude to bring these assets to life on our Shopify website.

Required:

  • Hands-on experience with an existing E-commerce platform (Shopify, Bigcommerce, WooCommerce, Magento, Amazon, etc)
  • Strong copywriting and online research skills and critical thinking, with an focus on driving product conversion online
  • Proficiency in industry standard image and video editing software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, for the purpose of editing image dimensions and editing video lengths
  • Proficiency in basic HTML/Liquid coding to optimize the appearance of online content
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities under time constraints
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to monitor and update online promotions, changing assets, product launch dates and more
  • Strong attention to detail, quality, and effective verbal and written communication skills along with excellent follow-through
  • Full-time focus, ideally working from our Head Office in Brampton ON (intersection of 407/410)  Remote opportunities exist however, for the right candidate

This role offers the chance to help lead a cutting-edge forward-thinking marketer/retailer, a competitive salary, performance incentives, and generous benefits, along with an exciting career path as the division grows.
